WASTE AND RECYCLING

Please help us to;

  1. Keep the bin store clean and tidy – this is a constant challenge, particularly during the busy summer period.

  2. Maximise the amount of waste that can be recycled.

  3. Not leave waste that will not be collected

In Spring 2021, South Hams rolled out an improved recycling service allowing residents to recycle more as part of their kerbside collection.

  • The new service will allow residents to recycle much more as part of their kerbside collection. As well as all the materials we currently collect, you'll be able to recycle things like:

  • Glass bottles and jars

  • A wider range of plastics

  • Batteries

  • As well as this, recycling and food waste is collected every week. General waste is collected in the black bins every fortnight. See South Hams New Super Recycler Service

Please note: Food Waste collections have been temporarily suspended until further notice.

Waste is to be put in with general waste.

RECYCLING AND BIN STORE

  1. Recycling in Kingsbridge may well be different to the arrangements you are familiar with at home so please note:

  2. Recycling needs to be sorted into the green boxes (cardboard, glass, paper) or white sacks (plastic packaging, tins).

  3. All food/drink packaging recycling materials should be cleaned before disposal.

  4. All recycling bags/boxes should be placed in the allocated and signed area in the bin store.

  5. Non-recyclable waste should be bagged and placed in the black bins. This is collected fortnightly.

  6. Each flat is responsible for the supply of their own black bags.

  7. Food waste should be placed in bio-degradable plastic bags in the grey food caddies in the bin store. SHDC have provided small grey caddies for each flat. Food waste is collected weekly.
